| It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing of Ray Palko . Ray had been battling through his second bout with cancer and fought it for as long as he could. Ray was a dedicated GSRMC member who served on the Board and chaired several car shows. He remained active in the club all through last year and was at the 2013 Installation Dinner with his wife Debbie. Judging from the slide show at last Saturday's anniversary party, I think that this year's Bowling event was the first he missed since joining the club. Ray, a veteran himself, was a staunch supporter of our military-based charities and spearheaded our selection of the Wounded Warriors Project as a designated charity for our summer shows. He insisted on being at those shows even though the heat made it practically unbearable for him to be outside. I'm glad that I got to know him in the time that he was a GSRMC member (I learned that we had the same barber for the last 35 years), and I believe the club was better for having him as a member. As per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no immediate memorial service. May you rest in peace Ray and say Hello to your buddy Carroll for us. I'm sure he appreciated how much you loved and cared for one of his creations. Click this line to see Ray's Obituary Mike D. |
